Other features that are similar
Other than the size of the cooking chamber, all other features of these two Breville toaster ovens are the same. Both of them have heating elements with exactly the same power rating. 1800W is more than enough for toaster ovens of these capacities.
Both of the toaster ovens have a temperature range of 120F to 450F. Although the temperature range is wide, none of them have versatile cooking functions. I think they could have the dehydrate function with this temperature range.
Apart from these, both of the toaster ovens have exactly the same color. They have the same kind of control panels. Both of them have manual control knobs with a digital LED display. You may read our article to know more about the difference between a digital and manual cooking appliance.
Dissimilarities
Breville BOV650XL and BOV450XL are the same toaster ovens except for the size. Breville compact smart oven BOV650XL is slightly larger than the mini smart oven BOV450XL. The compact smart oven is suitable for cooking for a medium-sized family with 4 to 5 members. On the other hand, the mini smart oven is suitable for a family of 2 or 3.
As the size is different, these Breville ovens have different price tags. The price of the larger one is slightly higher than the smaller one. Other than these, all the features of these two competing models are exactly the same.
Advantages of BOV650XL (over BOV450XL)
The BOV650XL model has a larger cooking chamber. This is the only differentiating feature it has compared with its counterpart. It has some other good features such as the good number of preset cooking functions, the control panel and LCD display, smart element IQ, and so on. All these features are common to the mini smart toaster oven BOV450XL.
Advantages of BOV450XL (over BOV650XL)
Breville BOV450XL is smaller than the competing model. Therefore, it occupies a little space on the countertop. On the other hand, it is less costly. Therefore, the affordability is higher. Other than these, both of the toaster ovens are the same.
Which one is the winner?
Breville compact toaster oven BOV650XL is the winner in my opinion. The size of the ovens is the only differentiating feature. I think the BOV450XL is too small. But the price of this unit is not that less. Therefore, I don’t see any reason buying this where I can get a larger oven at a slightly higher price. For a cooking appliance, size matters. Therefore, I would like to get the bigger one.
